Project Overview
Dyno Nobel had an idled 390 TPD nitric acid plant stored in Port Ewen, New York after plans to reuse the facility were cancelled. Dyno Nobel had dismantled and relocated the plant from the Radford Army Ammunition Site to Port Ewen in 2007 for a project that was later cancelled.
Phoenix Equipment purchased the complete dismantled plant and assumed responsibility for loading out all of the stored equipment. The approximately $1.5 million project ran from February through October 2013.

The Challenge
Although the nitric acid plant had already been dismantled, Dyno Nobel still had approximately 750 tons of equipment occupying storage space that it wanted available for future needs. Dyno Nobel needed a buyer for the complete plant and a way to clear the stored equipment from the site.
Plant Acquisition & Equipment Loadout
Phoenix purchased the complete 390 TPD nitric acid plant and coordinated the loadout of approximately 750 tons of dismantled process equipment from the Port Ewen storage location, allowing Dyno Nobel to recover value from the shelved plant while clearing the space at no cost.

Recovering Value From a Shelved Plant
The Dyno Nobel project gave the company a way to recover value from a plant it no longer planned to use while freeing a large amount of storage space. Phoenix purchased the complete dismantled facility and removed approximately 750 tons of equipment, leaving the storage area available for Dyno Nobel’s future needs.
